AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING:
This cottage has ductless units for air conditioning and heat.
Remote controls are included on the wall near the light switch in each room that has a unit. The unit on the main floor can direct the flow of air in two directions. Other units do not include this feature.
When adjusting settings you will note there is a delay in response before the change is evident in the wall unit. Please pause for each setting to take effect.
On the face of the remote control is the coloured Power button. Included are up and down arrows to raise or lower the temperature. Below the display screen the outside of the remote control will slide open to access more settings for fan speed, air conditioning, heat, or dehumidify settings.
The fan speeds have a whisper mode for a quiet operation of the unit. Increase the fan speed as desired for stronger cold/warm air.
Manuals are included to assist you in operating the remote control for more efficient use of the units.
View the images below regarding settings.
In the winter in particular, we kindly ask that you leave the heat ON when you leave so nothing freezes. A temperature in the low 60’s will suffice. Thank you.
PRIVATE BEACH:
Directly in front of the cottage is your access to the private beach on Lake Erie. Each property along this stretch of Fort Erie has its own private beach. There are many residents on Edgemere Road who have their permanent home here, including neighbours on either immediate side of the property. In view of this we ask that you enjoy the private beach directly in front of 925 Edgemere only. Shore walking (along the waterline) is permissible but use of other private beaches in the neighbourhood is not allowed. Do not set up your beach chairs or towels in front of other properties.
If you require additional space, Waverly Beach is a small public beach near the cottage with access at 271 Helena Street approximately two blocks from this cottage.
Some of the other public beaches in the area:
Crystal Beach Waterfront Park
Bay Beach (Crystal Beach)
Bernard Beach
Crescent Beach
Just google for surrounding beaches to find one that would suit your needs
PADDLE BOARDS & KAYAKS:
A paddle boat and kayaks are available for your use at your own risk. Life jackets are included in the closet by the roadside entry. We accept no liability for your use of these items, and if you use them, you use them at your own risk.
If you use either of these items, please return them to the storage area at the end of the day, and bring paddles back up to the porch (this prevents theft).
LAKE ERIE
Some information about Lake Erie:
⦁ This area was a thriving area in past times between Buffalo and Fort Erie. In view of this you will notice there is left over concrete from past piers etc. This area can be naturally rocky so the use of water shoes is recommended. There are many suitable swimming areas we thought it best you be aware.
⦁ Of the great lakes it is the most southern, shallow and smallest by water volume of the Great Lakes. It is the fourth largest of the Great Lakes in surface area.
⦁ Upon entering the water, you will notice that the water is very shallow for an extended area which makes it ideal for young families. Since it is shallow it is also warmer than the other lakes. The lake is generally clear.
